Michael Riedy
Michael is originally from New York, but now resides in Colorado and came onto the acrylic flow art scene in 2018. He’s had an interesting journey to find his calling in acrylic flow while working at different art events throughout Denver, and even participated in a Conception Art show (after working registration for 2 previous Denver shows).
He started with a Peace and Love 365 project on cardboard, and then began to experiment with the Peace Sign, Hearts, Infinity Signs, Circles, and Dots. While exploring his new found passion, he connected with local coffee shops and breweries in the Denver area to hang and sell his art.
He constantly explores new styles and loves reusing materials to do art on anything...glass, cardboard, plastic, windows, aluminum, wood, Styrofoam, Ball Aluminum Cups, Paktech’s recycled 6 pack and 4 pack holders, and more! Most recently, he’s been frequenting estate sales to find his next “canvas” and encourages you to see the art in everything around you.
He uses his hands to spin a piece 360 degrees and uses gravity to flow the paint in all directions (and he rarely uses a brush unless it is to splatter!). He also uses chopsticks, hair sticks, metal balls, necklaces/beads, and other random things to move and flow acrylic paint in all different ways.
He finds it most difficult to know when to “stop” flowing paint as new shapes, designs, and colors emerge and then change/fade away. With a completed piece, you can “hang it how you like” to get your best view. He’d love connect with you, do some art with you, and help you find your window to freedom!
